WELLBASED
Improving health, Wellbeing and equity by evidence-based urban policies for tackling energy poverty
Wellbased aims to design, implement and evaluate a comprehensive urban program to reduce energy poverty and its effects on citizens' health and wellbeing, built on evidence-based approaches, easily adaptable and transferable to different cities. Wellbased develops policy recommendations to reduce energy poverty in cities and keeping sustainable high levels of urban health and quality of life.

WELLBASED designs, implement and evaluate a comprehensive urban programme to significantly reduce energy poverty and its effects on the citizens health and wellbeing, built on evidence-based approaches in pilot cities that represent not only different urban realities but also a diverse range of welfare and healthcare models. The urban program is implemented and evaluated in 6 different pilot cities (Valencia-Spain, Heerlen -Netherlands, Leeds-UK, Edirne-Turkey, Obuda -Hungary and Jelgava-Latvia). The design of the urban programme is built on evidence-based approaches, representing not only different urban realities but also a diverse range of welfare and healthcare models.

Once the urban health programme is designed, Demir Energy (DEM) closely follow the implementation of the pilot in Turkey together with Edirne Municipality (EDM) and Zero Discrimination Association (ZDA) and also work on health evaluation for measuring health and well-being of beneficiaries (WP4). Contributions to WP5 and WP6 are also expected to ensure the widest sustainability, replication and dissemination of the project. In the project, DEM develops methodologies on replication activities of pilot cases in different political, economic, social and cultural contexts.
