Replicable and Innovative Future Efficient District and Cities
The CITyFIED project aims to ensure alignment of European cities and urban ecosystems with the smart cities of the future; It aims to develop replicable, systematic and integrated strategies. This project focuses on the development and implementation of innovative technologies and methodologies that will connect building retrofitting, smart grid and district heating networks, ICT and transport, as well as the reduction of energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions and the use of renewable energy sources.

The CITyFIED project aims to ensure alignment of European cities and urban ecosystems with the smart cities of the future; It aims to develop replicable, systematic and integrated strategies. This project focuses on the development and implementation of innovative technologies and methodologies that will connect building retrofitting, smart grid and district heating networks, ICT and transport, as well as the reduction of energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions and the use of renewable energy sources.

In the scope of CITyFiED project, the main purpose is to maximize the potential of applicability and effects of the implementations with 3 high level implementations on 3 different demo sites in Laguna-Valladolid (Spain), Soma – Manisa (Turkey) and Lund (Sweden) with participation of related cities and other technical stakeholders.

 

The project’s strategy five pillars:

  1. Large scale demonstrations, including three holistic district renovations at Laguna de Duero-Valladolid (Spain), Soma (Turkey) and Lund (Sweden);
  2. Maximization of the replication potential through the organization of a cluster of cities and building a community of interest among cities;
  3. Development of innovative and cost effective methodologies and procedures for planning, deploying and replicating energy efficient district retrofitting actions;
  4. Development of better business models to support the strategy for transforming urban areas into Nearly Zero-Energy Districts (NZED);
  5. Dissemination.

Within the context of the project as one of the 21 CITyFiED partners, Demir Energy team have the responsibility of coordination of Turkish team. Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, Istanbul Technical University, TÜBİTAK-MAM, MIR-ARGE and Reengen are the other Turkish partners in the project. In addition to the coordination task, Demir Enerji has international job descriptions such as planning, monitoring and evaluation of implementations and dissemination and communication.
